Breast reduction

Breast reduction (breast reduction mastoplasty) was developed to reduce the overall volume of large breasts (in this case called breast hypertrophy). At the same time, breast reduction can improve the curve and sagging of the breast.

This is possible thanks to different techniques, each characterized by a remodeling of the mammary gland. The size and position of the scars depend on the initial shape of the breasts. In general, the scar is around the nipple, then a vertical scar will join the submammary fold. In the case of large reductions, a scar in the fold will be necessary in order to have a uniform curve at this level (anchor scar or inverted T). The size and shape of the future breasts will be defined during the pre-operative consultation, taking into account the wishes and the silhouette of the patient. The operation is short and recovery is gradual, a week of rest may be sufficient to resume daily activities. Resuming sport is recommended after about four weeks.

The consultation

Your expectations and doubts will be clarified in complete peace during an interview regarding breast reduction.

After this discussion, a detailed clinical analysis of the breasts will be performed.

The surgeon will then explain the different methods considered, taking into account the position of the scars.

In some cases, breast asymmetry (difference between the two breasts) will be corrected at the same time as breast reduction surgery.

The consultation will continue to outline the problems and risks that could arise after this type of intervention.

Social security coverage depends mainly on the overall volume that will be removed during surgery. An accurate quote will allow you to have a clear idea of the expense to be expected.

A second consultation is necessary in order to establish in particular the patient's wishes.
